Matthew Lackie is the Global CEO of Axicom, the earned-first global communications agency for tech brands and brands with a tech story, which operates as part of the Burson Group. He was named CEO of Axicom in 2021.

A seasoned marketing and communications expert with over 25 years of industry experience and a proven track record of building, managing, and retaining large teams in developed and emerging markets, Matthew has contributed to overall agency strategy and global client campaign development across various sectors, including business-to-business, consumer, healthcare, and technology, for multinational corporations, public sector organizations, and start-ups.

Prior to joining Axicom, Matthew was President, Global Technology Practice at Golin, where he was responsible for the agency’s client portfolio across North America, Europe, and Asia. In that role, he delivered unprecedented global growth while rebuilding and doubling the size of Golin’s San Francisco office, positioning it as a center of excellence for technology.

Before that, Lackie spent 10 years with WE Communications (formerly Waggener Edstrom Worldwide) in a variety of roles, most notably as Executive Vice President, Asia-Pacific, with oversight of WE’s offices in Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Under Matthew’s leadership, Axicom has been recognized as the Best EMEA Tech Consultancy of the Year in 2022 and 2024, and Best Agency to Work for in EMEA in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 by PRovoke Media. Matthew has also been the recipient of PRWeek’s Agency Head of the Year 2014; listed on PRWeek’s Power List 2016 & 2015; and named to Campaign Asia’s 40 Under 40 List in 2013.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and public relations from Marquette University.
