Arijit brings over 25 years of experience in corporate communications, marketing, public relations and business journalism in India and the UK. As the Chief Client Officer, he provides clients with strategic communications counsel across messaging, stakeholder insights, organisational change, and issues and crises.

Arijit’s depth of experience runs across corporate reputation management, media relations, crisis communications, financial and M&A communications and social media communications. He has headed corporate communications functions at Standard Chartered, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and the Times of India Group. At StanChart, he did a two-year stint as global head of media relations in London during the height global financial crisis and led communications for over a dozen cross-border M&A transactions. At Bank of America, Arijit also double-hatted as Head of Marketing in India for nearly five years.

Starting his career as a business journalist, Arijit was lastly Business Standard’s Mumbai bureau chief, where he led the newspaper’s largest team of reporters for four years.

This is Arijit’s second stint at Burson Group India. Earlier, he led the firm’s corporate and financial practice from Mumbai and advised several key clients including Kotak Mahindra Group; Temasek, on its India entry; Standard & Poor’s, on its takeover of CRISIL; and Boston Consulting Group, among others.

Arijit has a Master’s in Economics from Calcutta University, and was a Chevening Press Fellow at Cambridge University, UK.
