Healthcare communications is about humans, not medicines or hospitals. No one knows that better than Hemali, who has spent most of her 19-year career in this specialized communications segment. With a passion for storytelling, an understanding of the Indian & Global healthcare industry and an instinct for consumer behavior, Hemali leads the GCI Health business in India. She counsels clients in developing impactful communications programs to engage their multiple stakeholders. Hemali has an in-depth understanding of the government programs and the public health landscape in India. Several of the campaigns she has led have won awards at national and international award shows.
As one of the most sought after and networked communications professional, Hemali was instrumental in setting up the Pharma, Health & Wellness practice in Genesis BM (now Burson) in 2014. She also was entrusted with the responsibility to establish and lead GCI Health India in 2021. In her role as the Managing Director for GCI Health India, Hemali manages the overall growth strategy encompassing people, clients and partners.
With a keen interest in public health Hemali is deeply committed to social impact and the belief that communications, advocacy and partnerships can positively shape and drive global & local agendas, social practices and policies. Hemali has spearheaded some marquee National and International behavior change campaigns that were designed creatively and focused on implementing evidence-based communication strategies and ‘Call to Action’ for advocacy to bring visibility, identify and bring together partners and to redirect media and key stakeholders’ attention to the program.

Hemali holds a master’s degree in Communications and is constantly indulges in upskilling her by learning about different aspects of communications, her recent focus being AI.
