Helping IKEA Navigate a Turbulent Political and Global Environment

Burson Ukraine has been a strategic communications partner for IKEA since 2017, guiding the brand through market entry, crisis management, and ongoing challenges in Ukraine, including during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 conflict.

Burson Ukraine has been working with IKEA Group as a strategic communications and public affairs partner since 2017.

During that time, we have helped IKEA:

  • Understand and build relations with key stakeholders ahead of the 2020 market entry
  • Define and learn more about IKEA’s key audiences and brand perception, to help inform their market entry strategy
  • Communicate a market entry amidst the COVID-19 pandemic (online store in May 2020 then city store in February 2021)
  • Prepare a crisis communications strategy to protect the brand against potential reputation risks and crisis situations
  • Communicate a suspension of operations in Ukraine amidst full-scale war start in early 2022, as well as continued support for Ukraine and Ukrainians through numerous CSR initiatives

As of today, our team helps IKEA remain abreast of any major political and geopolitical events, the changing market landscape; as well as continues providing 24/7 advisory and communication support to help IKEA remain in touch with its employees and external audiences in Ukraine.
