Interac: Taking the fight against fraud to a new forum

Financial fraud in Canada has surged over the past five years, making even the savviest individuals vulnerable. As one of Canada’s most trusted financial brands, Interac has also long been a leader in fraud prevention.

But in a crowded media landscape, cutting through the noise and giving Canadians the tools they need to protect themselves was becoming more challenging. For Fraud Prevention Month 2024, Interac needed a standout campaign to protect its brand reputation, reinforce its leadership in safe transactions and educate Canadians about evolving fraud threats and best practices.

So, we launched “Interac Fraud Fighters,” a unique experience that combined boxing and self-defense techniques with fraud-fighting tips from Interac. Free in-person classes at United Boxing delivered practical advice in a highly engaging and culturally relevant setting, empowering Canadians to defend themselves against financial fraud. Through earned media, influencer partnerships and social and digital content, we also broadened our reach online.

“Interac Fraud Fighters” set a new benchmark for Fraud Prevention Month campaigns, securing Interac's position as a thought leader in fraud prevention in Canada. By gaining the attention of media and policymakers alike, we effectively moved beyond traditional education into a real-world forum.
